VISION STATEMENT


The VISION of the Brooksville Fire Department is to be recognized by our community leaders and our citizens as a “Standard of Excellence” in providing emergency services through education, training and prevention; a department that is synonymous with the term “Leadership”; a department that fosters an environment of involvement, trust and cohesion; as well as a department responsive to the needs and concerns of the citizens of our community whom we protect, our customers.

 

MISSION STATEMENT

The MISSION of Brooksville Fire Rescue is to provide services designed to protect the lives and property of citizens in the community we serve. We will achieve this by providing prompt and professional services in the event of a fire, medical emergency, natural disaster, or any other event which may threaten our citizens welfare.


STATION

The Brooksville Fire Department has one station located in the city. Station 61 is located at 85 Veterans Avenue that covers the City of Brooksville.

PERSONNEL

Full Time

Staffing of the Brooksville Fire Department consists of the Fire Chief, Administrative Assistant III and 18 full time personnel consisting of:
  • Three District Chiefs
  • Three Captains
  • Ten Firefighter/EMT's

Part Time

The Brooksville Fire Department also has a reserve staff of six part-time firefighters who assist in staffing levels as scheduling permits.

TRAINING DIVISION

The training division has oversight from a designated District Chief who facilitates training within the fire department. We actively train on a monthly basis with Hernando County Fire Rescue and currently are doing joint training on 40 hour rapid intervention team training.


In addition to State mandated training, all fire department personnel are encourage to take initiative in his or her own professional development through the City of Brooksville’s tuition reimbursement program.


The areas they have the opportunity to excel and enhance their skills are:

  • Fire Inspections/Prevention

  • Hazardous Materials

  • Disaster Preparedness

STATION 61 EQUIPMENT

The following equipment located at station 61 and ready to respond is:

  • Tower 61 is a 70 ft. Quint purchased in 2006 from the Sutphen Corporation and is compliant with the applicable equipment pursuant to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) guidelines and has a 2000 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) pump.

  • Engine 61 is a Class-A Pumper purchased in 2000 from American LaFrance Corporation and is compliant with the applicable equipment per NFPA and has a 1500 GPM pump. Engine 61 serves as a “Heavy Engine” equipped with the “Jaws of Life” for immediate deployment of heavy extrication operations when needed.

  • Tanker 61 is a water tanker that was purchased in 1984 by E One and carries 1,250 gallons of water and has a 250 GPM pump and a 125 GPM portable pump.

  • Our reserve engine is a Pem Fab purchased in 1987 from the Code Red Company in Ocala, Florida. It serves in a reserve status and is used when front line suppression units are out of service or, additional units are needed.

  • Squad 61 is a fast attack vehicle purchased in 2000 from the Hallmark Corporation and is equipped with a 250 Gallon water tank and 125 pump. It is used primarily from BLS/first response and the “Jaws of Life” for extrication operations.

  • Squad 62 is a first response vehicle purchased in 2002 from the Pierce Corporation and is equipped with first response medical equipment and extrication equipment. Squad 62 is alternated monthly with Squad 61 for BLS/first response and extrication.

  • Brush 61 is a Brush truck that was purchased in 1986 and used as a squad until 2005 when it was converted into a brush unit and is equipped with a 300 gallon water tank and a low volume high pressure pump that is capable of flowing 30 GPM.

  • Haz-Mat 61 serves as one of three units that make up the Hernando County Hazardous Materials Team that was established in 2003/2004 and is overseen by Hernando County Emergency Management. Haz-Mat 61 is a truck and trailer combination made up of 1998 Dodge Pick put that pulls a 16 ft. enclosed trailer equipped for Hazardous Materials response.

  • Chief 60 is a 2007 Ford Expedition and is used by the Fire Chief to conduct day to day administrative duties and is equipped for first response.

  • District Chief 60 is a 1998 Dodge 3500 Ram Pickup used by the District Chiefs to conduct day to day fire and medical operations in the City. This unit is equipped with a slide out tray that carries first response equipment necessary to support the DC performing their duties.

  • Staff 61 is a 2000 Crown Victoria used by fire department staff in a support role for special events, schooling and fire prevention.
